Limited Edition Soap SALE

Jan 31 2012 Published by under limited edition soaps

Because l’m discontinuing using fragrance oil in my soap, l’ve decided to clear out all of the soaps that contain them. So until stocks run out, you can buy any fragrance oil soap for only $4.00 a bar. If you haven’t ordered before, then you can still use your free soap offer too. Grab a bargain while they last, and l’d better get busy dreaming up some Essential Oil combinations LOL!

ps. l will be changing the blog template in the next couple of days, so if things move/disappear, then they’ll be back. Just doing some housekeeping!

New Soaps…

Festive Floral – one of my limited edition Christmas soaps which will be available November 1st. Softly scented with a custom blend of floral fragrance oils and filled with lots of cheery confetti shreds to make a beautiful gift soap.

Peppermint Rose – another christmas soap – crisp Peppermint essential oil blended with Rose fragrance oil, an absolutely lovely smell. This soap was meant to turn out white, but l will forgive it…the glitter on top still makes me happy :-)

Green Apple Shampoo bar – available now. You can read all about the shampoo bar experiment here.

Leomn Shampoo bar – on the site now, but not ready for sale for a few more weeks. I love this bar!

And finally, Mintie shampoo bar with a blend of peppermint and spearmint essential oils.

Thanks Nizzy!

My soap friend Nizzy sent me some excellent youtube videos on different soap swirling techniques the other day. All of the work l was supposed to be doing was instantly abandoned in favour of trying a column swirl. After faffing about and making a huge mess attempting to mix my colours in too small plastic disposable cups, l finally got my act together and poured alternating layers of pink, red, orange, yellow and white soap. I also CPOP-ed this log because l was feeling very impatient.

Amazing stuff, l was thrilled when l cut the bars. It is scented with yuzu fragrance oil. l can’t stop looking at the colours!

Ugly Duckling soap…

Mar 15 2011 Published by under daily soap stuff, limited edition soaps

Meet my sweet little Ugly Duckling soap bar.

It all started with a big tub full of soap scraps. l try not to waste anything soap related – all of the offcuts, bar trimmings, dented bars, squashed soap curls etc get religiously hoarded away for a rainy day. You never know when you’re going to need them!

A few days ago l looked in the tub and it was full to the brim, so l decided to do a big rebatch – everything got grated down, soaked in goats milk, and reheated in the oven. There were a multitude of scents already used in the trimmings, but they tend to be mostly cooked out by the heat, so l scented it with a blend of Pomegranate & Grapefruit. Did my usual pouring into the mould, and then cut the cooled soap into bars for our own personal use.

Except, my goodness, they are DIVINE. I can’t stop looking at them and smelling them. The scent is amazing, a perfect blend of my favourite pomegranate with my other favourite citrus smell. l have no idea how l’m going to do it, but l need to recreate this bar as a new soap. l guess if l just stand at my soap shelf with a spoon and add a little bit of this and a little bit of that l might end up with something that resembles the bar above! From what l can remember, it currently contains:

  • goats milk
  • coffee grounds
  • a lavender bud or two
  • pink clay
  • cocoa
  • rosemary pieces
  • oatmeal
  • yellow clay
  • red clay
  • beer
  • white clay
  • thickened cream (yes, cream, l remembered someone somewhere adding a big dollop of cream to their soap batter, so thought ‘what the heck l may as well try it’)

Hahaha l really don’t like my chances of re-creating it!

Cucumber Mint handmade soap

Feb 19 2011 Published by under daily soap stuff, limited edition soaps

oh yummity yum, this soap smells so nice!

I’ve added a new category to the website for limited release soaps; ones where a fragrance oil caught my eye but may or may not become part of the permanent range. And this was one of them. I had a great time making green soap balls with mica and goats milk soap, l then coloured a portion of the soap mix bright green and attempted to swirl it through. One thing l forgot was that there were rather a lot of soap balls and l didn’t reduce the size of my recipe to compensate. So the finished bars are quite hefty LOL! They’ll be ready for purchase around the 12th March 2011.

Personally l’m also just a bit in love with my new soap stamp too…l haven’t decided yet when it the best time to stamp the soaps, so there will be a bit of experimenting going on here.

P.S – a big thankyou to Vincent who fixed the rotating banner on the front of the shopping cart. You’d think l would remember to upload all of the files after 7 years of creating websites ;-)
